Baratza Encore ESP — finally a sub-$200 espresso-capable grinder that doesn't suck
Tested for 4 months daily. Grind retention is the big improvement over the original Encore. Espresso fineness range is real but you'll want to add scales. Verdict: yes if you're moving up from a blade grinder.

1Zpresso J-Max — great burrs, fiddly assembly
Cup quality is excellent. Hand-grind for espresso is doable but not fast. Lost a bearing washer the first time I disassembled it. Docked stars for the manual.

Fellow Opus — set-and-forget for pour-over
Bought after Wirecutter pick. Lives up to the hype for filter, espresso is a stretch even with the espresso burrs. Quiet, fast, no static issues for me.
